Science and Technology Policy Expert Manzoor Hussain Soomro Visited CASTED and Delivered an Academic Report

On August 1, 2025, Professor Manzoor Hussain Soomro, a expert in science education and science & technology policy, visited CASTED and delivered a special lecture. Over 20 researchers from CASTED attended the event.

With the theme "What is Research, and How to Conduct Research? — Advice for Young Researchers", Professor Manzoor Hussain Soomro started from defining the connotation of scientific research. He pointed out that research is the exploration and advancement of future knowledge based on learning and absorbing existing knowledge. He elaborated on the key elements of scientific research work and the basic scientific spirit that researchers should possess. He also shared his own research experience in the field of agricultural development, encouraging young researchers to solidify their research foundations and carry out scientific research work based on practical needs.

During the meeting, participants engaged in interactive exchanges with Professor Manzoor Hussain Soomro, conducting discussions on issues such as successful and failed cases in scientific research, and the effective integration of academic research and policy research.

Manzoor Hussain Soomro is a Founding Fellow of the Academy of Engineering and Technology for the Developing World (AETDEW), a Foreign Fellow of the ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology (AAET). He served as the Founding President of the Economic Cooperation Organization Science Foundation (ECOSF) from 2011 to 2022. In 2020, he was awarded the Chinese Government Friendship Award.
