From July 31 to August 9, 2024, the International Research and Training Center for Science and Technology Strategy (CISTRAT) of Chinese Academy of Science and Technology for Development (CASTED) successfully held the 11th International Training Workshop on Science and Technology Innovation Policy Research and Methods in Belt and Road Countries. Liu Dongmei, Secretary-General of CASTED and Director of CISTRAT, attended the opening and closing ceremonies and delivered speeches.

With the support of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the Chinese National Commission for UNESCO, the training workshop was jointly organized by Chinese Academy of Science and Technology for Development (CASTED) and Hebei Institute of Science and Technology Innovation Strategy, with the theme of "Scientific and Technological Innovation and Digital Transformation". Experts from the Department of Natural Sciences of UNESCO, Economic Cooperation Organization Science Foundation (ECOSF), China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), Ali Research Institute, Great Wall Strategy Consultations (GEI), and CASTED were invited to give lectures to the trainees. The workshop went to Didi, Xiong'an New Area and Shijiazhuang City in Hebei Province to investigate the construction of international platforms, the development of high-tech enterprises, and the construction of smart cities.

The training workshop recruited international trainees from science and technology management departments or research institutions in Algeria, Egypt, Ethiopia and Timor-Leste, as well as Chinese trainees from Hebei Institute of Science and Technology Innovation Strategy. After the training, the trainees said the workshop provided a good learning and exchange platform for developing countries, and the lectures taught had guidance and reference significance for the formulation of science and technology policies in their country. It is hoped that CISTRAT will continue to play a role in sharing China's experience and wisdom in science and technology policy formulation, policy implementation and evaluation, and science and technology innovation business incubation.
