The Delegation of Panama National Science, Technology and Innovation Commission Visits CASTED

On March 29, a delegation of the Panama National Science, Technology and Innovation Commission led by Director Jorge Mota visited CASTED. President Hu Zhijian hosted the visiting delegation. The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges on China-Panama STI cooperation.

President Hu Zhijian welcomed the Panama delegation and briefly introduced the development of science, technology and innovation in China, as well as the research experience accumulated by CASTED, the national training base of high-end think tanks, in STI strategy and planning, STI systems and policies, S&T foresight and monitoring and other fields.

Director Mota said he was pleased to have the opportunity to exchange ideas with China’s representative science and technology think tanks. He pointed out that Panama established diplomatic relations with China in 2017, and the Panama National Science, Technology and Innovation Commission signed a cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Science and Technology of China in 2018. Panama is willing to establish relations of STI cooperation with similar institutions in China to promote sustainable development, and carry out cooperation in areas of mutual interest, such as energy, health, climate change, ocean and logistics.

Representatives of the Institute of Comprehensive Development and the Department of Research Management attended the meeting.
