Inaugural Seminar on China-India STI Joint Research Held in CASTED

On the afternoon of January 2016, a two-member Indian delegation led by Dr. Prashant Goswami, Director of the National Institute of Science, Technology and Development Studies (NISTADS), paid a visit to CASTED for the Inaugural Seminar on China-India STI Joint Research.

NISTADS, affiliated to the Indian government’s Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), focuses on research areas including S&T application, assessment and planning, future applicable S&T, socio-economics of S&T, frontier innovation and research in S&T, and climate change, adaption, mitigation and Sustainability, and provides the Indian government with policy-making support.

The seminar was chaired by CASTED President Hu Zhijian. During the seminar, Wang Fenyu, Vice President of CASTED, briefed the Indian delegation on CASTED. Wang Shuhua, Director of CASTED Institute of Rural and Regional Development, made a brief on the progress of implementation of the innovation-driven development strategy in China. Dr. Prashant Goswami introduced NISTADS and its main research areas. Dr. Bi Liangliang, Second Secretary of the Science and Technology Section of the Chinese Embassy in India, introduced the progress of China-India S&T cooperation. After that, the two sides signed a MOU and had discussions on related topics including research collaboration and the establishment of a China-India innovation platform.

The seminar was also attended by Wu Yishan, Vice President of CASTED, Liu Dongmei, Member of CASTED Academy Affairs Committee, and Xu Zhuqing, associate research fellow at CASTED.
