On the afternoon of February 16, 2017, an EU delegation led by Patrick Child, Deputy Director-General of Research and Innovation, European Commission, paid a visit to CASTED. CASTED President Hu Zhijian and Vice President Wu Yishan received the delegation and chaired a seminar with the delegation.

At the meeting, Wu Yishan briefed on CASTED’s main research and international cooperation activities, and Su Nan, representing CASTED Institute of Science and Technology for Industrial Development, briefed on CASTED’s achievements in renewable energy and e-mobility research. Patrick Child observed that there is a vast potential of China-EU cooperation in areas including energy policy and investment. The two sides also had thorough discussions on common challenges facing China and EU in energy.

Other members of the EU delegation included Sharon Kearney, Official for Energy, Department of Research and Innovation, European Commission, Laurent Bochereau, Minister Counsellor, Delegation of the European Union to China, and Rositsa Petrova, Attaché of Science, Technology and Environment Section, Delegation of the European Union to China. Representatives of CASTED Institute of Science and Technology for Industrial Development, Institute of Foresight and Evaluation, Institute of Science and Technology Systems and Management, and Department of Research Management also attended the meeting.
