CASTED Convened Strategic Working Group Meeting for China-UK STI Cooperation 36

On the morning of April 27, 2017, CASTED convened the Strategic Working Group Meeting for China-UK STI Cooperation in Meeting Room No. 213 of the Ministry of Science and Technology. The meeting was attended by the British working group led by Frazer MacDonald, Head of Asia Pacific, Knowledge and Innovation Unit, UK Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). Wang Hong, Vice President of CASTED, received the delegation and chaired the meeting.

At the meeting, Dr. Yi Zhixin and Dr. Han Qiuming at CASTED Institute of Foresight and Evaluation, on behalf of the Chinese working group, gave detailed introductions to the draft version of the Strategy of China-UK STI Cooperation and expounded the significance, strategic vision, goals, principles, cooperation areas and action measures of China-UK STI cooperation. The British working group gave positive feedback on the draft strategy. The two sides had in-depth discussions on subsequent work plans.

Other members of the British delegation included Holly White, Counsellor for Science and Innovation at British Embassy Beijing, Grace Lang, Director of Research Councils UK China Office, Alasdair Hamilton, Head of Science and Innovation Team at British Embassy Beijing, and Ben Greenwood at the International Trade Department of British Embassy Beijing. Wang Ge, Director of CASTED Institute of Foresight and Evaluation, attended the meeting and had discussions on important subjects of strategic cooperation.
