Sino-German Innovation Policy Workshop 2017 Held in Hangzhou 29

From June 15 to 16, 2017, Sino-German Innovation Policy Workshop 2017 was successfully held in Hangzhou. It was hosted by the Chinese Academy of Science and Technology for Development, and co-organized by the School of Politics and Public Management of Zhejiang University of Technology, China Institute for Small and Medium Enterprises and “Zhejiang 2011 Platform – Zhejiang Provincial Center for MSM Transformation and Upgrade Coordination.

In June 2011, the Joint Statement on the Establishment of China-Germany Innovation Policy Platform was signed by the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology and the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research under the witness of the Chinese Premier and the German Chancellor. As the Chinese organizer of the innovation policy platform, the Chinese Academy of Science and Technology for Development works with relevant institutions of the two sides on a regular basis to hold innovation conference, innovation policy workshop and other events.

The workshop invited experts on innovation policies from Tsinghua University, University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, CAS Institutes of Science and Development, Tongji University, and Zhejiang Academy of Science and Technology for Development on the Chinese side, German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, German Embassy in China, Würzburg University, Global and Regional Environment Research Institute, Neu Ulm University of Applied Sciences, and Project Management Agency at the German Aerospace Center, and over 40 experts of the innovation cooperation platform in areas such as electric vehicles, future cities, life sciences, clean water, and semiconductor lighting.

At the meeting, President Hu Zhijian of the Chinese Academy of Science and Technology for Development and Deputy Director General Beyer of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research respectively introduced the latest progress of scientific and technological innovation strategies in China and Germany. Experts from the two countries also conducted in-depth exchanges on such topics as national innovation systems, innovation globalization, innovation and entrepreneurship, assessment of public investment in scientific research, emerging technologies and industries, intellectual property rights, and scientific and technological innovation think-tanks. Research personnel from the CASTED Institute of Science and Technology Systems and Management, Institute of Science and Technology Investment, and Institute of Foresight and Evaluation participated in the seminar.

At the seminar, experts from both sides also conducted in-depth communication and dialogue on the framework and key topics of the fifth Sino-German Innovation Conference in 2018 and the participation of young scholars. In 2018, the fifth Sino-German Innovation Conference, which will involve innovation cooperation platforms on innovation policies, electric vehicles, future cities, life sciences, clean water, semiconductor lighting and smart manufacturing, will be held in China.
