As one of the side events of the 19th China-EU Summit, the third China-EU High-level Innovation Cooperation Dialogue was held in Brussels on June 2, 2017. The dialogue was co-chaired by Wan Gang, Minister of Science and Technology of China, and Carlos Moedas, EU Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation. Nearly 60 delegates including high-level representatives from government departments, representatives of scientific research institutions, and innovation experts from both countries attended the meeting. Premier Li Keqiang and President of the European Commission Juncker met and took a group photo with the principal representatives of the Innovation Cooperation Dialogue. Lin Xin, Party Secretary of the CASTED, attended the dialogue and the meeting and group photo with the Chinese and EU leaders, and made presentations on two topics: strengthening cooperation between CASTED and the EU Joint Research Center (JRC) in the context of cooperation of Chinese and European scientific and technological innovation think-tanks and China’s intellectual property rights policy for science and technology.

As the head of the Chinese Expert Group for the China-EU High-level Innovation Cooperation Dialogue, the CASTED carried out research and provided support for China-EU exchange on scientific and technological innovation policies in terms of topic design, organization and coordination, and plans to hold a joint seminar on innovation policy with the JRC on 26 June in Beijing, which will feature exchanges and discussions on science and technology innovation strategies and innovation systems, regional innovation and innovation index, innovation and industry, innovation and society and other topics.
