From 2012, CASTED and University of California have co-sponsored three rounds of China-U.S. People-to-People STI Dialogue, which saw Chinese and American scholars, officials and enterprise representatives have in-depth and fruitful discussions on four subjects including the functions and roles of government departments in S&T investment and program coordination, structure and methods of S&T resource allocation, process and performance management of governmental S&T resource allocation, and S&T resource allocation policy. In 2017, CASTED co-organized with Brookings Institution the China-U.S. Innovation-Driven Development Forum as a side-event of the Inaugural China-U.S. Social and Cultural Dialogue in Washington, where Vice Premier Liu Yandong gave a keynote speech.
