Abstract: Selection of an appropriate development mode has competitive advantages in developing strategic emerging industries. The current development of the industries in China faces the major internal constrains in technology. From the perspective of international competitive advantages in terms of technology life cycle and technological capacity, the article identifies appropriate mode for specific stage in developing the industries as well as some issues to be avoided in selecting the development mode.
