2011-03-14

Abstract: By the end of 2008, most small and medium businesses (SMB) in the disaster area have recovered growth in sales post-quake with notable features of a staged recovery. Facing the mingled influences of earthquake damages and financial crisis, 40% SMBs think the influence of financial crisis is bigger and 20% think earthquake brings larger influence while other 40% believe both influences are comparable. In resolving operational difficulties from the crisis, more than 70% businesses opt to self-adjustment and nearly 30% seek government supports. The resistance to risk is scale and type specific and smaller businesses are more vulnerable to risks.
