17th Report in 2010: Development of Small Family Businesses is Far from Satisfactory in spite of Quite Active Operation
Abstract: Small family businesses provide most of the employment opportunities in the disaster area. Nearly 10% of the households in the area have their own businesses. However, the situation is far from satisfactory. 49.2% of the businesses say operation is worse than before, 10.2% get no profit or lose money. 66.5% want to obtain policy supports, especially loans and tax exemption, which are only available to less than 30% of the businesses post-quake.
