CISTRAT Held Its 2nd Training Workshop in 2013

On the morning of Sep.9, 2013, "International Training Programme on Science, Technology and Innovation Policies 2013 ——Science, Technology, and Innovation Policy Research and Method: STIGAP for Asia-African Region" held in Beijing. This training programme was funded by UNESCO and MOST of China. It was organized by Chinese Academy of Science and Technology for Development (CASTED) and International Research and Training Centre for Science and Technology Strategy (CISTRAT).

There were three modules of the training programme: Science, Technology and Innovation Policy; Science, Technology, and Innovation Policy Statistics and Indicators; National STI Outlook under the STIGAP of UNESCO. The training programme introduced the participants STI policy issue in developing countries, creative economy and innovation policy, China's national innovation system, R&D, innovation statistics in OECD countries, etc.

Professor WANG Yuan, Executive Vice President of CASTED, delivered remarks in the opening ceremony, welcoming the 24 participants from Indonesia, Mongolia, Nigeria, Tanzania and Vietnam, and 7 participants from China local S&T departments for the 20 days’ training program. Mr. LI Xin, Divisional Director, Department of International Cooperation, MOST of China, gave the opening remarks and briefly introduced China's STI system. Ms. Lidia BRITO, Director of Science Policy and Capacity Building, UNESCO, also attended the opening ceremony and gave a speech on Integrated Policy Approach on STI for Sustainable Development——UNESCO Strategy and Actions.

The opening ceremony was hosted by Dr. Yoslan NUR, Progamme Specialist of UNESCO. Mr. WANG Fenyu, vice president of CASTED, Mr. SUN Fuquan, the Academy Council Member of CASTED, Mr. Hans Dencker THULSTRUP, Programme Specialist for Natural Sciences also attended the opening ceremony.
